GETTING STARTED
Getting Started in Judo is easy, no special clothes are required (sweats are suggested). Show up to one of the practices, fill out our application and waiver and get on the mat. The instructors will teach you safe falling, newaza (matwork), and tachiwaza (standing) techniques. SOUTH HILLS JUDO CLUB specializes in teaching beginners. Most of our club members started off in the same spot you are now.
Remember to take it slow in the begining, it is not required that our members perfom every task and exercise, do what you are comfortable with.
Learn Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu with Team Balance Pittsburgh!
BJJ is one of the most effective martial arts, similar to judo or wrestling - involving takedowns, control, and grappling. Matches end when someone submits or taps out. BJJ is great for self-defense, competition, or just personal improvement.

MuayThai is one of the most effective standup or striking martial arts. Dubbed the King of the Ring, it involves kicks, punches, knees, elbows and clinching. MUAYTHAI is great for self-defense, competition, or just personal improvement.
